Ceremony for the Brokenhearted
18:30 - 20:00
8001 Zürich
With Ella Ronen
Ceremony for the Brokenhearted is part concert, part spiritual ceremony – an immersive experience of voice, breath and collective song.
Rooted in the Kabbalistic idea of Shevirah (Shattering) and Tikkun (Repair), the piece explores how brokenness can become the starting point for something new. Rather than explaining this idea, the ceremony invites the audience to experience it together: to name what is broken, listen to one another, breathe and sing.
Drawing on Jewish traditions of communal song and prayer, the work creates a shared ritual for people of all faiths and none – asking how we might move from fragmentation towards connection and repair.
Developed through Manchester Jazz Festival’s Hothouse Artist Development Programme, the work has since been performed at festivals in the UK and Jerusalem.
